An Impressive Start of the Volleyball Season 排球赛季开局令人印象深刻

First Semester Volleyball Season is in full swing and the Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s Girls U19 Volleyball Team started off on a high note, winning 2 sets to 0, scoring 25-15 in the first set and 25-15 in the second set against the British School of Beijing (BSB Shunyi) last Wednesday. 

第一学期排球赛季进展如火如荼。上周三，北京耀中国际学校女子U19排球队以一场大比分胜利迎来开门红，两局比分皆为25-15，以2-0的成绩全取北京英国学校（BSB顺义）。

The girls dominated the first game of the season, which doesn’t come as a surprise based on the hard work and time the team dedicated to practice. This victory was also made possible by our new recruits including Layla Cobb, Stella Mammarella and Dimitra Papalamprou. According to Matthew McEwan, Head of Physical Education: “The girls have done very well to fit into a team that practiced hard before the summer break and were very well established.” Marie Iles was selected the “Player of the Game” for displaying dexterity in her blocking, hitting and passing.

女孩们在本赛季的首场比赛中主宰全局的表现并不令人意外，因为她们在训练中投入了大量的努力和时间。我们的新队员Layla Cobb，Stella Mammarella和Dimitra Papalamprou也为这场胜利做出了贡献。体育教育主管Matthew McEwan表示：“女孩们做得非常好，能够很好的适应这样一支在暑假前艰苦训练并且非常稳固的球队。” Marie Iles因其在拦网、扣球和传球上表现出的灵巧性，被选为“全场最佳球员”，。

The team also played an away game against Keystone Academy on Wednesday and displayed vigour and great team spirit throughout the game.

球队在周三还与北京市石学校打了一场客场比赛，整场比赛都表现出了强大的团队精神。

This week on Monday, the boys’ first volleyball game of the season against Keystone International School was off to a slow start with a 20-25 loss of the first set. Changes were subsequently made to the line-up, with Poe Que dominating the net, leading the team with 9 kills and Marco Tong, team captain and starting setter, providing 39 of the 47 assists. The team also put to use the Caden Chng and Kaiyo Namai’s skills who are both new to the team. According to Team Coach, Michael Warner, “the two of them saw limited playing time but were impactful at the service line leading the team with 6 aces each.” They led the team to victory for the following three sets 25-14, 25-15, and 25-12.  

本周一，男子队在本赛季首场对阵北京市鼎石学校的排球赛中开局不利，以20-25输掉首局比赛。随后球队调整了阵容，Poe Que占据了网前，以9次扣杀带领球队走向胜利，队长兼首发队员Marco Tong，贡献了全队47次助攻中的39次。新人Caden Chng和Kaiyo Namai也都为球队做出了贡献。根据球队教练Michael Warner的说法，“虽然他们两人的上场时间有限，但在发球线上很有冲击力，6次发球得分引领球队。”他们带领球队取得了随后三局比赛的胜利，比分分别为25-14、25- 15和25-12。

The boys also played another match against Hope International School on Wednesday evening and brought home another victory, winning 3 sets to 0. The scores were 25-12, 25-10, 25-22.

男孩们还在周三晚上与北京协力国际学校进行了另一场比赛，并取得了3-0的胜利，三局比分分别为25-12、25-10、25-22。
